What is the Smart Specialisation Hub?

About us and what we do

Objective and impartial
Focused on place

The Smart Specialisation Hub provides robust, impartial evidence to showcase a LEP’s and/or region’s strengths and capabilities across several sectors and industries.

We do this by undertaking research, advising on national policy drivers and strategic fit, and constantly seeking to improve the analysis we provide.

The Smart Specialisation Hub has been set up to work with 38 Local Enterprise partnerships (LEPs) in England to add to the work they have already done as part of the innovation process.

What does the Hub provide?

  • Opportunities to get your university’s research used directly by business in an efficient and effective way
  • Advice on how to collaborate with other organisations to complete research & become thought leaders for local growth and innovation in England
  • The opportunity to become central to innovation and industrial strategy in your region by helping to plug skills gaps in local industries
  • An outlet to promote your own innovation research
